Love. Riot. Recap.
The GTW & friends launched a proggressive music series in Chicago entitled “The Love Riot.” The event was a success and featured Melo-X, Von Avery and The GTW himself. He recapped on the fun filled night..
“Apart from finding my passion in making music, I am extremely passionate about displaying new ideas to my friends and the public. The weekend of June 19th was a joy because I successfully curated an event which came forth from one of my crazy random ideas. (first 21 + show)
I wanted to put on a show that my friends and I seldom see where we dwell. An intimate yet “cool” show with good vibes and great music. I’m not much a believer in hype but more a believer in what I find Inspiring. So I connected with a couple amazing artist that I like and invited them to jam. These guys were Von Avery from Chicago and Melo-X from Brooklyn.
Prior to the show I met up with the gang for a mic check. I was filled with anticipation for the show, but thoughts of jamming to an empty venue soon cluttered my thinking process. I told myself to focus on doing the best I could do and let the rest happen.
The show took place on a warm fathers day in my home city. The crowd was filled with friends and warm familiar faces, the atmosphere was incredible. Great sounds by Beng Fang, Soulphonetics and Devin Hudson kept everyone moving and kept smiles on every one’s faces. Von Avery performed a killer set and I kind of did my thing also.
(humor). Melo-X capped of a memorable night with the perfect hybrid of sounds.
I came to the venue with my tank hungry and left with enough to make it home. =). Special thanks to the sponsors for the night, you knew blog & angry hero.”
Bradley Murray from Definite B films shot this smooth visual of Melo-X from the Night.
