The GTW is a Chicago based Nigerian-American vocalist/producer who’s soulful yet dark sound is just as feel good as it is depressive. His sonic atmosphere is influenced by left-field R&B, downtempo house, UK 2-step garage, bohemian hip-hop and elements of his African heritage. In his narratives, he exposes his personal experiences of love and self discovery in a manner that is thought provoking rather than cliche or dull. The GTW’s music speaks the voice of an outsider who breaks convention. He has collaborated with artist like BengFang, Phil Ade, KeithCharles Spacebar, Peter Hadar, The-Drum and Rockie Fresh; and he has done national tour dates with Washed Out, Spoek Mathambo, Melo-X, Iggy Azalea, G-Eazy, and more. The GTW’s self proclaimed “Chigerian” style has been covered in taste making sites like The Guardian UK(as New Band of The Day), The Fader, OkayPlayer, MTV Iggy, Bella Naija and more. The GTW’s sound has been called everything from “global-fi” to “tribal bass”, but buzz words aside, The GTW is a eclectic yet smooth blend of urban soulfulness and progressive experimentation.
